detailed itinerary

Your Vienna food tour starts with a visit to a family-owned bakery in Vienna’s 10th district. From our meeting point of St. Stephen’s Cathedral, we’ll ride the subway over to this very local, multicultural neighborhood.

Here, you’ll sample one of our favorite local treats: krapfen, which is a jam-filled doughnut sprinkled with sugar. These pastries are popular year-round, but especially so leading up to Lent.

Next, take the subway to the 4th district, to visit a little-known coffee house. This place may not be famous, but its Austrian cakes and strudels are absolutely delicious.

Finally, we’ll visit Vienna’s famous Naschmarkt, where we’ll sample some handmade Austrian chocolates before finishing our Vienna tour with a drink at a hipster hangout in the 7th district.

This Vienna food tour varies with the seasons, but some treats you may get on your tour include palatschinken (jam-filled crepes), marillenknödel (apricot dumplings), gugelhupf (bundt cake), and/or Austrian ice cream.

Impressions from our tours

"Wow, these people really care about giving their customers the best experience possible. There was another couple and their child booked on the same tour but the company decided that having a child along might limit the time and attention we received, so Maria took my daughter and I around by ourselves while a colleague put on the same tour for the others. Maria took us to places we never would have found ourselves, where we not only tasted an amazing range of Viennese specialities but also learned about the individual businesses' contribution to the community (a cafe staffed partly by elderly retirees, a fair trade chocolate firm, a company that encouraged gender diversity in jobs traditionally dominated by men, etc). Maria was a charming guide, very knowledgeable, helpful and funny, and the food - !!! The serves were really generous, and all the items seemed to be either classic examples or new interpretations of Viennese favourites - there wasn't a single thing we had had before. Maria took us to several different areas, only a few minutes apart by Metro but giving us an insight into life in Vienna beyond the tourist centre. My daughter is a chef and she was enthralled with the range of flavours and techniques in the dishes we tried. I've travelled widely and done a lot of cooking classes and food tours and I can't think of any that provided so much insight into the history and lifestyle of a city as well as so much culinary inspiration! I really think Wolfy's Adventures has set an entirely new standard as far as we are concerned. This was a really well-thought-out, interesting and enjoyable tour. We ate way too much but we feel we learned even more!"

"What a fantastic way to spend the afternoon and evening in Vienna. Firstly, Wolfy was a great host, welcoming and so knowledgable about Vienna and the surrounding districts. Secondly, the food, wow, from the first stop with amazing Viennese cakes to the final stop with fantastic ice cream we enjoyed every moment. Wolfy’s tour took in the best of Viennese food, with a good selection that left us feeling full and happy … would highly recommend this tour to anyone."
