detailed itinerary
Did you know that Vienna is one of the few cities in Europe where we grow grapes and produce wine right within the city limits? Learn that secret and more on this private Vienna wine tour that introduces you to our favorite local wines and shows you a side of the city that tourists rarely discover.
First up, enjoy a tasting of two different Austrian white wines, paired with tapas of ham and cheese and bread. Learn about our wine-making traditions as you nibble on your snacks and learn about local winemaking.
Next, we’ll take a short walk over to Judenplatz, a town square that was the center of Jewish life in Vienna. There, you’ll enjoy a tapas-style Viennese lunch at a delicious restaurant. Enjoy Austrian classics like wiener schnitzel, butter schnitzel and goulash (vegetarian options are available). Your dishes will be paired with three different red and white Austrian wines.
Your next stop is a popular wine shop, where you’ll get to try two more different wines before heading onto one of your tour’s highlights: a famous wine bar in Naschmarkt that was visited by Anthony Bourdain. There, you’ll try the most famous and highest quality of Austrian wines: the Grüner Veltliner Federspiel from the Wachau Valley, which will be paired with some roast beef, ham
and pork belly.
Finally, your tour will finish at Vollpension, a famous coffeehouse that employs seniors, giving them the opportunity to earn additional income beyond their pension. There, you’ll indulge in their delicious homemade pastries, along with a glass of top-quality sweet wine.
