detailed itinerary

This private Vienna food tour is designed to highlight the very best of Austria’s seasonal delicacies. Depending on what’s available, you may get to try palatschinken (jam-filled crepes), marillenknödel (apricot dumplings), gugelhupf (bundt cake), or even Austrian ice cream.

Starting at St. Stephen’s Cathedral, you’ll meet your private guide, who will lead you through the local districts of Vienna in search of the most delectable, sweet treats.

You’ll first visit a beloved family-owned bakery in the 10th district, a multicultural neighborhood that’s far off the typical tourist trail. Here, you’ll get to try a dessert that Austrians absolutely love: a jam-filled doughnut known as “krapfen.” While you can get these pastries year-round, they are especially popular in the days leading up to Lent — and of course your guide will tell you why.

From there, your private guide will lead you via subway to a coffee house in the 4th district that serves up excellent cakes and strudels. Few people know about this spot, so you’re in for a truly unique treat!

No visit to Vienna is complete without a trip to the city’s famous Naschmarkt, so we’ll head there next — and while we’re there, you’ll get to sample a few handmade Austrian chocolates.

Finally, full of sugary delights, your last indulgence will be a drink at a popular hipster hangout in the 7th district. From there, your private guide can give you tips on where to head next as you enjoy the sweetness of Vienna.
